Campout
2025 Camp-Out – Packard Creek Group Campsite
Friday, August 15 at 2pm through Sunday, August 17 at 1pm
Come join us for fun, tug-o-war, raffle prizes, beer, swimming, games, and most excellent food!

This year’s camp-out is at Packard Creek Group Campsite, nine miles SE of Oakridge on Hills Creek Reservoir. From Oakridge, follow Hwy 58 east for 2 miles to Kitson Springs Road. Proceed on Kitson Springs Road for 0.5 miles to FS road 21. Follow FS Road 21 for 6 miles to Packard Creek Campground. It’s all decently marked. We’re across from sites 3 and 4.

The site accommodates up to 80 people, has open space for tents, and parking for 25 vehicles (after 15, we will need to pay $10/day and OR State Parking passes don’t work here). There is a covered log shelter for group use yet it has big, non-movable tables so bring a pop-up tent for a cooking area. There’s also a janky amphitheater in our campsite. And there’s a lake nearby that we can swim in.
In THEORY, there is potable water. They do water tests, and if it’s not good, they shut it off (doesn’t usually get shut off, they say).

No showers, pit toilets only, and no electricity. Also, probably no wi-fi signals. Plus, 10pm to 6am we have to be quiet, so no loud music until 2:48am….
There is a mix of vegetation in the area, which includes an abundant supply of poison oak. So stay in camp with a beer in hand.
If you don’t want to tent camp, and have an RV-like vehicle, please get a spot ASAP as this place is full in the summer. No water or electrical connections, though.
This is a family friendly event yet does not extend to your four-legged fur-babies. Dogs (cats, ferrets, capybara, and the like) are not allowed. (Dogs are technically allowed, yet not at CBS camping events.)
Our site does have a fire pit. Most likely, open fires from wood will not be allowed (that has happened in the past). If a fire is what you want, consider a propane fire pit! If you have one (and a tank of gas) please add it to the Google Sheet so others will know it will be there.
Please note on the shared spreadsheet (you can access it without a Google account) what you are contributing, such as:
- Beer
- Jockey box (or multiple if you’ve got them)
- CO2
- Food (especially for the communal meals)
- Games (yard, board, or otherwise)
- Equipment (grill? smoker? generator?)
- Supplies (general in nature)
- ICE. Lots of it.
Meals
Much of what makes camp-out awesome is the collective meals that happen! You do not need to cook for everyone, but if sharing please label your food with an ingredient list. You are encouraged (not required) to participate in:
Friday Night Taco Bar:
Bring your best fixings, and be wary of any peppers – there’s a number of hot heads in this group!
Hangover Breakfasts:
Stephanie and her famous Cheese-Sealed Burritos! Aaron and his excellent blueberry pancakes! And bacon. Somebody always shares bacon, right?
Saturday Early Dinner Potluck:
Showcase your camping culinary skills. Or bring something already prepared. We’ll eat most anything.
Tug-o-War
Early afternoon Saturday, before the Raffle starts.
Rules: Teams of four (or five) vie for the prize (determined by Kathleen each year, but ALWAYS a bottle of booze for EACH winning team member). Get your team together, bring gloves (it’s an actual jute rope), and you can even have a coach. Or, create a team on the spot! Be prepared to be sore the next day.
Maker’s Raffle
Sort of 2pm-ish Saturday, after the Tug-o-War.
We pay for the camp-out site with proceeds from raffle (it’s technically a drawing).
The Makers’ Raffle is back! What do you create besides beer that you can donate? Art, food, woodworking, bottle of that port you make in 2017? A gift certificate is excellent, too. (Or, if you have a gift card you are not going to use, that works.) Rumor has it there will be a gift cert for a knitted sweater, made especially for the winner.
There may also be prizes from breweries, such as gift card, T-shirts, and the like. And STICKER!
Not going to camp-out? If it’s not a large item, we can bring it, and you can support your club. You can also come out just for the Saturday raffle (preceded by the tug-o-war). Or, buy raffle tickets in advance ($1 each, 6 for $5, 12 for $10, and 25 for $20) and have a proxy bring home your loot.
